Reading

This week, three teenagers from around the world talk about their lives and their future plans. Monica, 14, Romania I live in a small village in the west of Romania. My family owns a small hotel for tourists and I sometimes help my mum cook dinner for the guests. When I leave school, I’m going to study English and tourism at the college in the city. It’s over 100 km away so I will have to live there. I’m quite outgoing and confident and I like talking to people, so one day I want to work as a tour guide. I want to show tourists some of the beautiful places in Romania. If I pass my exams, I will be very happy and I will have a big party with all my friends. Andrew, 13, Canada My parents are farmers in Ontario, Canada. They have a big farm with lots of cows. I love living on the farm and I really like working outside with the animals. I’m a very patient person and I’m quite shy. I don’t like big groups of people so I love life on the farm. When my dad stops working, I’m going to be the farmer here. But first I want to go to university and learn all about farming and animals. My mum wants me to study lots of different subjects. She thinks it’s better. She says if I learn lots of different things, I will be able to make better decisions later. Ashish, 15, India I live in Bangalore. It’s a very modern city in the south of India. I am very interested in technology and when I leave school I’m going to study physics at university. I’m very ambitious and one day I would like to study at Cambridge in England.
